Contraindications

There are a few contraindications for a massage. If you have any questions about these contraindications or how they might impact your massage, don’t hesitate to contact me or your GP.

Contraindications:

    • Fever
    • Infectious diseases (e.g. flu, laryngitis, corona)
    • Infectious skin diseases
    • Very high blood pressure
    • Too much pain
    • Extreme fatigue or exhaustion
    • Consumption of alcohol or use of drugs
    • Cancer
    • Pregnancy

For the last two items on the list, I would recommend that you go to a specialized massage therapist.

Partial Contraindications:

    • Open wounds
    • Varicose veins
    • Inflammation/infections (e.g. extreme cases of acne on back and/or shoulders)
    • Boils
    • Injuries
    • Fungal nails (with fungal nails, I use plastic gloves due to the risk of infection)

With these partial contraindications, a massage is allowed, however the specific area will not be massaged.

Indications:

    • General/local increased muscle tension (hypertonia)
    • Listlessness or local hypotonia (too little muscle tone)
    • Poor blood flow
    • Local fatigue or muscle pain
    • Adhesions
    • Headaches
